- Students build on the knowledge and practice gained in Electronic Layout & Publishing 1 and continue to work with desktop publishing software and hardware. Students expand their publication design, layout and print production skills by planning and creating customized, professional, multipage documents for a client.
- Prerequisite: COM2025: Electronic Layout & Publishing 1
Assignments
Assignment 1 - Brochure
You will create a brochure advertising a school program. It can be fine arts, CTS, academics, athletics, etc.
- Set up your document layout, including actual sizes.
- Create an informative and attractive brochure.
- Include both text and images.
Assignment 2 - Magazine
Create a seven-page magazine (including cover page) about fashion, sports, cars, boats, games, or some other topic you are interested in.

Create a project plan, including:
- the purpose or message
- the intended audience
- an outline of the content
- potential graphics and images
- a rough layout
- a timeline and deadline for your project
- dimentions for your documents
Submit the plan before starting your project.

Create a title page and three two-page spreads, including:
- a full-color cover and back with graphics and text
- a table of contents with bullets or numbering
- headers/footers and page numbers
- articles, including footnotes (you may use AI tools to help generate text content)
- columns and justified text
- appropriate images and graphics of different formats
- images or objects with transparency
- text on a path
- consistent application of elements and principles of design
Assignment 3 - Presentation and Feedback

Present either of your projects to a classmate or an adult.

Provide feedback to another student on their project, including:
- how the elements and principles of design help facilitate good composition in their work
- the technical and creative aspects of the work; e.g., quality, uniqueness
- areas of concern/difficulty (if applicable)
